Who it is for
You do not need a healthcare background. You need to care about people and show up for 9 sessions.
You already look after a parent, a spouse or a child and want to turn that care into paid work.
You are moving from retail, food service, warehouse work or childcare into steady work that matters.
You want a recognized certificate and a step toward medication aide training.
You want a quick, affordable way back into hands-on care.
Schedule
9 sessions, 40 hours, all live on Zoom. Keep your day job and finish in under 2 weeks.
What you learn
The course follows the Virginia DMAS Personal Care Aide curriculum. DMAS is the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services, which runs Virginia Medicaid.
You practice every skill and demonstrate it on camera for your RN instructor before you graduate.
Earn your 40-hour PCA certificate and start working in home care and personal care.
Your PCA certificate meets the training prerequisite for our Virginia Medication Aide program, approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing.
Pass the state exam, register with the Board of Nursing, and give medications in assisted living.

Yes. Every session is live on Zoom, from wherever you are. There is no travel and nothing to attend in person.
The class is approved in Virginia. Students in most other states can enroll, because many states let employers count a 40-hour RN-taught course toward their training requirements. Employer and state requirements vary, so confirm your state's rules before you enroll. Not sure? Ask us and we will help you check.
No. This course is built for people starting out in caregiving.
All 40 hours are required for your certificate, so plan to attend every session. If something comes up, contact us right away.
Work as a personal care aide with Virginia home care and Medicaid waiver agencies, and move straight into our Virginia Medication Aide program. Medication aide rules are set state by state, so if you live outside Virginia, ask us what the certificate does in your state.
